**MAKE SURE YOUR PASSPORT IS VALID FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS AFTER YOUR SCHEDULED RETURN FROM THE BAHAMAS**
DO I NEED BAHAMIAN CURRENCY?
No. U.S. dollars are accepted everywhere, but if you use cash, you will most likely receive change in Bahamian dollars. Be sure to bring cash upon your arrival for the taxi and water taxi to get to the island. Most of the stores and restaurants take credit cards, but a few are cash only, so be sure to ask before dining.
DO I NEED AN OUTLET CONVERTER?
No, the outlets in the Bahamas are the same as the U.S.
HOW TO GET TO AND FROM YOUR ACCOMMODATIONS WHEN ARRIVING OR DEPARTING HARBOUR ISLAND
When arriving to the Government Dock on Harbour Island, you should take a local taxi to your accommodations. The taxis wait on the dock for passengers throughout the day, so no need to book transportation in advance.
Similarly, when departing Harbour Island, you should take a taxi from your accommodations to the Government Dock. Just as you did when arriving, you board a water taxi at the dock which will take you to Three Island Dock on Eleuthera. From there, take a short taxi ride (~5–10 minutes) to the airport.
WHEN FLYING OUT OF ELH, HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I GIVE MYSELF TO GET TO THE AIRPORT AND CHECK-IN FOR MY RETURN FLIGHT?
You should give yourself about 3 hours from leaving your accommodations to getting to the airport. Things move a little slower on island time, and you may have to wait for transportation off the island to get back to Eleuthera. You will also need to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before your flight in order to check-in and go through security. The airport is small, so lines build up quickly, especially on popular travel days like Sunday.
